The Evans family have caused me a lot of trouble!

Susanna had three sisters and possibly a brother. One sister, Ann Evans, married William Bassett in 1776. She died and William remarried. When he died the property that came to him from Ann Evans passed to his widow, Jane. A Chancery case ensued.

I assume you've seen that the marriage Licence is avilable from SoG?

ElizabethHerts 26-10-12 11:17

No, I didn't, Sue.

Many thanks. I have a photocopy of the marriage entry from the register, though.

ElizabethHerts 26-10-12 11:20

Could you give me the link, Sue - it just redirects me to FMP, but there it says the source is the West Middlesex Marriage Index.

Sue from Southend 26-10-12 11:31

I found it on FMP. It's a Vicar-General Marriage Licence Allegation.

You have to download a form and send it snail mail to the SoG with a cheque for £10. Of course it may not tell you anything new....:)

ElizabethHerts 26-10-12 12:36

Thanks, Sue. The SoG know how to make money, don't they?

I now find that Susanna left a will! It is very odd, because I have looked in the past and bought wills for the surname Lamb at the Archdeaconry of Huntingdon, but this one never showed up.

I will order it today.

Details of Susanna's will now added.
