A Study on the Y Chromosone and Surnames

There was a Y dna surname project for my main surname (Holden). Only a small survey, so probably wrong to draw any firm conclusions from it, but there were at least two groups who did not have the same Y dna. It was not clear which group had the "correct" dna, or indeed whether they all had the correct Y dna and the correct surname ( non paternal event, a mother named Holden). I also know that the main Y dna line failed twice and that many Holdens from those points forward are Holdens in their autosomal dna but not of course their Y dna.

Another small dna project on the Kay surname came up with the astonishing result that men surnamed Kaye (with an e) could trace back conventionally to Kaye of the knights of the round table!

Fascinating stuff.
