Nice piece here about Sarah Bashford of the White Lion in Lindfield who made Richard one of the trustees of her will, she died in 1791 and he and a blacksmith were to find an apprenticeship for the young black boy who lived with her and invest £100 to set him up in business once the apprenticeship was complete. As Richard died in 1796 he didn't see the boy finish.
