New laptop/ old FTM advice needed plse

All my research is on FTM 2005 and has been on two laptops so far with no problems.

I have not been actively researching for a few years but have recently bought a new laptop with windows 10.

My daughter has installed the disc but it doesnt seem to want to take the info from the flash drive.

I appreciate how out of date the 2005 tech is but can anyone advise on my options so that it is not lost. I have multiple files and it is all on paper but not as easily accessed.

I am hopeless with tech - have looked at purchasing the latest version but again, will it take the old version and as I am no longer researching it seems a lot of money!!

I would really appreciate any advice.

Thank you

If you buy a new version of FTM, it should be able to import your file(s) from the old version. But if you have managed to install FTM 2005 onto your new computer, I don't understand why it wouldn't import the files. Do you get an error message when you try to import them, or what? I don't think it would be worth buying a new version of FTM if the problem is with the file copies.

What are the filetypes, FBK, FTW or some other type?
