Please could someone translate the contents of Box 15 from this French census - top of the page, far right. Thanks.

For employers, entrepreneurs, home workers, write : employer

For employees or workers, give the name of the employer or company that employs them.

Basically, it's employer or self-employed: enter "patron", employees, give the name of their employer. (Edit - snap, Elizabeth!)
But the column mostly seems to have been used for something else.

It is a bit of a hassle all round. I don't know filled in the forms (or supplied the information) but it's not terribly accurate either. Still, better than nothing.
