A further 2 sisters born about 1866 & 1869 in Pittsburg/Pennsylvania, USA?
His father was killed in a mining accident about 1873/74 & his pregnant mother returned to Coxhoe, Co Durham, giving birth to his sister 27th May 1874.

Have you already got this 1870 US census entry, Jay?

Youngstown Township, Mahoning County, Ohio June 1870
Harrison John 37 Coal Miner England
Harrison Elizabeth 37 Keeping House England
Harrison Amelia 11 At Home England
Harrison Maria 8 England
Harrison Florance 4 England
Harrison Sarah 2 Pennsylvania

Doesn't quite match the details you have but close?

Well done Kite, that must surely be them, as in 1881 Elizabeth H is b Coxhoe abt 1834 and in 1861 she is b abt 1834 Cornforth. Coxhoe and Cornforth are close.

1861 ref (with dau Amelia)

John Harrison seems to be from Morton-on-Swale in Yorkshire. I'm guessing this wasn't known before?

Ah, so you probably did have the above stuff - sorry! lol

JayG 05-12-09 17:00

Ooooo Yes Kite I think that's them, thanks :D Ohio isn't a place that's ever been talked about so this might be the lead I need.

Maria should Marian/Marion. Florence states she's born in America on the later census so that's abit of a puzzle.

Thanks Merry, I do have those census, but thanks for looking.

It's quite a while since I did anything with this branch so I think i'd better check over what info i've collected over the years.

I did have a quick look around on the internet but it doesn't look as though births for Mahoning County are online. I should think he is most likely to have been born there if his family were there in 1870, though.

YAY think i've found something of his birth on familysearch, tho there's a few discrepancies, mainly that he's down as a girl!!

Clement Harrison, Female

It looks as though you can order the microfilm to your nearest LDS centre:

When I read this thread the other day I thought ooooooooer mother's father's father is a girl :p

Clementine is usually a girls name or at least I have only ever known females with it.
