Does his marriage certificate give father's occupation, Sue? There is a possible baptism on ancestry at St Botolph Aldgate, 25 Dec 1826, dob 21 Sep 1826, parents William and Abigail Warren of 12 Harrow Alley, labourer.

William was a weaver. Edward's wife's family were all weavers too so I've no reason to doubt that bit! The Edward that you found in St Botolph seems to have died 7mths later....

Although not definite as he was in the workhouse at death it's a bit of a coincidence!

Thanks anyway...:)

There's an Edward Warren baptised @ St Leonard's Shoreditch Feb 1826 to James Warren (a Weaver) and Elizabeth. They also have an older son named William b 1816. And if it's the same family another son baptised Henry in St Matthews Bethnal Green in 1813 and a daughter named Mary Ann in 1822 - my Edward and Matilda named one of their sons Henry and one of their daughters Mary Ann... What d'you reckon??

Could be; I've come across a brother's name given instead of father's name on the marriage cert before.

I have another marriage certificate where the bride's brother is given as her father which is what made me wonder about this one! I've been looking for years and found nothing other than this:(
