Ancestry DNA question

I am thinking of spending some Christmas money on an ancestry DNA test. My question is, do I need to have a full Ancestry sub for it to be worth doing? Would I be able to see my matches, if I don't have the full sub?

Thanks

Just checked on an account I manage.

You can see all your matches, and their trees if they are public

But if you click on an individual in that tree, you have to subscribe

Great, thank you

Once you've looked at your matches it may be worth getting a 14-day trial sub, because it isn't always obvious how matches are related to you until you've had a good look at their tree.

There is an offer for an extra £ that gives you a 3 month free trial, which I was thinking about. I do have access to a library account.

Sib's DNA sent off eight days ago... still in post. As they reckon 6-8 weeks turnaround, in the current climate a free trial would have expired by the time you got your DNA results back.

I was wondering about that. Will probably just stick to the basic one. Thanks
