What is Peter's surname?

FMP Clandestine marriages

Peter D___ marries Magdalen Amenett on Jan 30 1724.

He is a weaver so it is possible Magdalen is one of mine.

The transcription Dwiwe might be right but I can find no record of that surname except for Peter's marriage.

If anyone wants to play around with Magdalen too I'd appreciate her birth or baptism.

I'm not sure on that surname.

This is a possible for the baptism of Magdalen:

Madeline Amounet
6 Jan 1706
Threadneedle Street, French Huguenot, London, England
Rene
Magdeleine

It could be Peter Divine, there are baptisms etc in Stepney in that name on Ancestry.

Or following on from Merry's post there is a Pierre Devine, bapt 1697, in the French Protestant Church, Canterbury to Isaac Devine and Marie Freman.

Looking at the "original" I imagine that it is a neat copy of a scribbled scrap, imitating someone else's handwriting.

Thanks Merry, there are suspicions of French Huguenot origins.

Thanks Sue. I'll look into that.

Phoenix you are probably right there. I've been trying to say the name out loud without success trying to work out what it might be.

Serves me right, I should be doing paperwork.

Where did you get this from please Merry?

Sorry, Ancestry:

I found the French version of the Threadneedle Street registers on familysearch. I've found the baptism of my Jeremiah Amanet, called Jeremie. His father is Rene but mother is Esther so I'm not clear on the relationship yet.
