thanks borobabs, hope your man is well

Bidston, if you put in an approximate year of birth (and other such information which you get from the census) perhaps someone can look for the birth/baptism and other details.

thanks elizabeth, have edited post

Adults' ages were rounded down to a multiple of 5 on the 1841 census, so that one is usually the least accurate. If Elizabeth is 35 on the 1851 and 44 on the 1861 then she was probably born about 1815 - 1816.

1861 reference

RG09 Piece: 3355 Folio: 64 Page: 35

Registration District: Hunslet Sub District: 2 Kirkstall EnumerationDistrict:
Ecclesiastical Parish:Bramley

Stanningley Bramley, Bramley, Stanningley, Leeds County:
Yorkshire (West Riding)

The image seems to suggest she was born in Holbeck (Leeds). There are just ditto marks for her place of birth.

That would normally be true, but there were special rules for the 1841 census saying ages should be rounded down, so an age of 20 means 20-24.

This looks like a likely marriage for Thomas and Elizabeth:

Apr-Jun 1845 Bradford Yk, Elizabeth Arundale and Thomas Jones, vol 23, page 246. There are other names on the same page, so we can't be sure that these two married each other, but fingers crossed! I seem to remember Arundale turning up as a possible variant of the surname somewhere along the way?
