I found one of my Purkis family on there paying money to his sister.

Fantastic! Now I know that the Edward Jones serving with Daniel Marsh WAS married to Caroline Riley, as I suspected. Now I just need to find out whether he died or simply abandoned her. (She remarried as a spinster)

It's great, Phoenix. I have found another Purkis brother having his pay given to another sister.

What is great is that it is showing marriages abroad, so you might be able to tie down an otherwise unpromising ancestor.
