There is a parish register entry for the marriage to Farrow, but it doesn't give his wife's name. It does say that Farrow was "of Lowestoft".

The Great Yarmouth PR entry for Farrow and Rebecca's marriage is beautifully written, but the writer forgot to put the bride's name in:

Now finally I have the BT copy, thanks to ancestry's new database, but Rebecca's surname is going to take some deciphering! Anyone like to have a try? It's 22nd Jan on this image (top half of column 2) and I think they have spelt her first name Rebekah:

Could she be the Rebeka (if that's even what it says) whose baptism is similarly unreadable second from last on this page? Feb 1695, Great Yarmouth:

Does anyone think the surname on the marriage (second link in post #2) could be Carter? If I invert the colours it looks possible to me but I don't know whether that's just because I want it to be Carter as there is a Rebekah Carter baptism 22 Aug 1697, parents Robert and Mary.

It looks the right length and shape to be Carter, but I couldn't swear to it.

Did they name a son Robert?

I only know of four children, Lindsay - Rebecca jr, Judith, Thomas, and Farrow jr. Thomas and Judith were named after Farrow's parents. So not much help there! Thanks for looking.

Oooh, I thought Carter too, but felt I was only guessing until I read the other posts.

Don't you think part of the problem is the quality of the copy, so maybe if the archive office could be persuaded to look at the original.....?!

Thanks, Merry. I might try that. But if you thought it might be Carter before you read the posts, that seems like a good sign!

Another copy of the image from Familysearch - https://www.familysearch.org/ark:/61...601&cc=1823613. I think it could be Coe, not long enough for Carter, the tail of the "f" of "of" from the line above is I think rather long and then you have "of Yarmth". There appears to be quite a bit of spacing between each of the words so its only a short surname. Its a lower resolution image so downloaded it and tried manipulating it but can't do a lot with it, but its better than Ancestry's copy which they must have adjusted poorly by them as I think they will have got the images from Familysearch.

There's a Rebecca Coe baptised in Lowestoft in 1697, perhaps that is how she met her husband, originally from there. Obviously needs further research ...

Thanks, Nicki. If you look through the other entries on the page, the man's name usually has "of ..." but the woman just "Yar". No idea why they did them like that!
