This is the memorial inscription:
In loving memory of our dear mother & father EMILY QUANSTROM who passed away March 31st 1926 aged 64. CARL QUANSTROM October 24th 1928 aged 78. |
Does the marriage cert give his father's occupation, Crawfie?
|
FamilySearch has the baptism of a Rudolf Leopold Quarnstrom, 6 Mar 1883, son of Viktor Leopold Quarnstrom and Hedvig Gustafva Holmquist, at St Petersburg, Russia, could possibly be relatives.
|
His father is also a tailor and it says he was deceased.
According to the inscription that Shona found, plus the age on the death cert, this gives a dob of 1850. The informant on the death was his daughter, who might not have been too sure on his age. |
Oh, and ancestry has Ingeborg Rebecka Quarnstrom, daughter of Clara Augusta Quarnstrom, born 9 Aug 1878 at St Petersburg, listed in the Sweden, Indexed Birth Records:
http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/22...nSearchResults They also have the image for the Rudolf Leopold record: http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/22...nSearchResults But that database only starts in 1860, so Carl wouldn't be included. |
Yes, I found those people, they are very intriguing, but as yet I cannot find any link. Carl did name one of his sons Leon, which might have been derived from Leopold, but could just be a similar name.

How far back do the consular records go on FMP? If he was living in St. James and got married in Westminster then he probably had money. It's possible he was a diplomat of some sort, likely someone of minor note who chose to defect. You may find something if you dig around, but as I don't have a FMP sub I can't help. It could be a red herring, of course.
Just a thought, though. |
But he was a tailor.
