Can anyone read what is written beside the baptism of William Skilton Andrews on 27th September 1789, please?

It's on the left-hand page, right-hand column, near the bottom.

BTs don't survive for Surrey, but I wonder if it's an indication of a copy.

This lad was the brother of my 4x-great-grandmother Hannah Andrews.

FMP have added to their Surrey PRs, although this isn't new.

I still can't find the marriage for her parents Joseph & Hannah Andrews.

Is that Ewell?

Fairly sure that the local history society have lots of databases. Might be worth contacting them (though replies may take forever!)

Phoenix, you had suggested this before and I did contact them. They have no further records of BMBs but did give me this information:

According to the Land Tax Records of Ewell, Surrey, it would appear that a Joseph Andrews was renting a house from one William Jubb until at least 1793. As there are no Ewell burial records for Joseph or Hannah Andrew/s I can only surmise that they left Ewell after this date. As their daughter Hannah married in Frensham, have you looked at any records there?

It is possible that Joseph Andrew/s was involved in the paper making trade as William Jubb was a paper maker, like his father also William. Twenty years before, at a vestry meeting held at the Parish Church of Ewell on Easter Monday, on 12 April, 1773, it was agreed to let Mr. Wm. Jubb [senior] a parcel of ground commonly called Charman Mead for the term of twenty one years from the date thereof at the yearly rent of eleven pounds five shillings.
After WJ junior's death in 1796, the mill was leased to Thomas Sanders who eventually bought it outright.



They might have not been from Surrey originally.

I wondered if Hannah's maiden name was Skilton as that was used as baby William's second name. He was buried just 6 months after his baptism.

Am I correct in thinking that with Frensham and Linchmere on the table, you have Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire AND Berkshire as potential places to look?

Can you find Joseph Andrews jnr in 1841?
Is his status married?

My grandparents called their house in Guildford Lynchmere!
Our house in Devon was Frensham House.

On the 1851 Joseph Andrews junior was with James Harding, his brother in law, at Lion Green, Frensham. He was married. I can't find him before or after that, not that I have looked recently.

He was a Journeyman papermaker (Ewell suggested that might have been his father's trade).
