John Flight

Nicholas Moy is bp in Wiveton, Norfolk in 1681, son of Samuel & Ann.
He marries Margaret Flight in Heydon and their children are all baptised in Heydon: Ann, Rachel, John, Alice, Margaret, Samuel & Elizabeth.
Nicholas is buried in Corpusty, where son Samuel spent some time, in 1751.
Margaret is buried in Edgefield in 1755, where several of her daughters married and lived.

I have a baptism for Margaret Flight 30 March 1680 in Thursford. This is another irritating parish where the surviving registers start quite late. Her parents are given as John Flight and Rachel on the ATs. Given that these are the names of her second and third children (Rachel being carried through as a family name into the 1800s) I am prepared to accept this baptism as correct.

Now I find a marriage of John Flight to Rachel Wagstaffe in Holkham 21 May 1678. There were Wagstaffes in Holkham and Wells next the sea at the time, as well as Flights glimpsed in the ATs in Thursford. The parishes are ten miles apart.

I can't ink this in as the correct marriage, but do you think it feasible? If Rachel were born in Holkham, it looks as if she married aged over 30.

I don't see any children of John Flight baptised at Holkham in the years after the wedding, so it looks good.

There is a Rachel Wagstaffe baptised at Wells-next-the-Sea 1 Aug 1652, parents Edmund and Margaret.
