Rachel Middleton born 24 July 1756, baptised 1 August 1756 in Edgefield, daughter of James Middleton and Lucy Ransome.

Married William Skillings after banns 10th October 1781 in Edgefield.

On the 1841 census in Edgefield, in a house opposite the rectory, with her son Edmund, his wife, his mother in law, several of his children and one of his grandsons.

It would have still seemed a depleted family circle as her husband had died a few months earlier and three of her grandsons had just emigrated for Canada.

Rachel was buried 19th April 1846, a few months off her ninetieth birthday. There is no will or gravestone.

Just checked a few Ancestry trees. They virtually all have poor Rachel dying in the December quarter 1860 (aged 104!!)
