Would it be worth trying the local reg office to see if you can buy/eliminate this cert?

Deaths Mar 1847
Wells Sarah Chipping N 16 43

Chipping Norton is the right area BUT that death is on the NBI. It's a woman of 72 years old which would be a year of birth of 1775.

Was she a minor when she married then?

Well if she married around 1800 and I haven't found the marriage, she would have been 19. I've only found what I believe to be her in 1841, not certain, so her year of birth isn't certain.

I can't find anything on her husband. You'd think Evan Wells would be a bit more distinctive in Oxfordshire given that it's usually a welsh name. He was born c 1783 in Hook Norton. I have his baptism in June 1783.

In that case I think you should ask the registrar to examine the cert to see if that death belongs to the widow of Evan. I hope Evan's name hasn't be changed to John by some English vicar :( (or the registrar)

I've just realised from your last reply that I had mis-read your orignial post so when I said "was she a minor at marriage?" I wasn't meaning to sound sarcastic lol I thought she WAS married in 1800 and was hoping her being a minor was how you had plumped for a birth of about 1780!!

The family weren't welsh but the name Evan crops up a few times in the generations.

I don't know that Evan was dead as I'm not that certain that that was her in 1841.

They just seems to fall off the planet.

No, my only link to her age is that 1841 census that I can't find the ref to at the moment.

The first child I have for them is William born in 1800

I found this transcription

Hook Norton 23 Dec 1803 William Wells s/o Evan & Sarah
