There is some dispute over this.

FMP has transcribed it as Axtell, which looks right to me (see the 'x' in Baxter on the 7th line of the same page).

The same surname also appears in the last line of the same page.

Aptell??

The first letter is like the A in Alford a few lines above, the 2nd similar to Pipkins in the previous entry - though the down stroke has a rightward kink that Pipkin doesn't have.

Edit - I think Mary's right about the X.

Thanks, I shall go with Axtell but search with a wild card.

Sometimes it's Axtell, other times it's Aptell.

I've now found the same man's marriage with the groom's surname transcribed as Actell!
