Robert Joyner

Surname spelt variously as Joyner, Joiner, Goiner etc

Robert Joyner was baptised 30 April 1740 in Corfe Mullen, Dorset, son of Henry Joyner & Mary. He is the eldest child I have found of those parents.

He married Susanna House 5 August 1769 in Puddletown, Dorset

His seventh known child was Charlotte Octavia Joyner bp 13 January 1782.

I am descended from her younger sister

The family lived at Puddletown, Dewlish, Corfe Mullen & Hamworthy. Because there was no church at Hamworthy at the time, the youngest children were baptised at Lytchett Minster.

G'day Phoenix,

Apparently Robert has a little brother named Michael Joyner (1755-1816) and Michael is my Gx4Great-Grandfather. :D

I say 'apparently' because I've seen them listed as such on a number of trees but I can't find any actual source record showing who Michael's parents ;( Do you know of any such record?

Regards
Step4joy

There is a baptism on ancestry at Corfe Mullen, 2nd Jan 1753 Mickell son of Harry Joyner was baptized. Ancestry have transcribed his name as Wickell but it is Mickell on the actual image (and somebody has already put in a correction to it).

Well done Phoenix! That was so Quick!!

It is an interesting coincidence that my father and his mother were also named Henry/Harry and Mary Joyner. Where did you find the above record?

However I would think Dad was named after his maternal grandfather, Heinrich, rather than his Gx4 Grandfather. Also Dad's middle name was after his paternal grandfather, Samuel although he also had a Gx2 Great Grandfather Samuel on his mother's side.

Shush! (I'm at work!)

There are lots of databases around for Dorset. I subscribe to Find My Past. Ancestry has images of original registers where they survive. There are also some records on Family Search and there are online Parish Clerks for Dorset.

When I get home (abt 3 hrs) I'll see what else I can dig out for you.
