Hi

Please can someone help me trace William Aspinall on the 1851 & 1841 census?
And the William Owens on the 1861, 1851 & 1841 census.

the last census i am certain of for the Aspinall family is 1861.

William Aspinall - 34years, born in Orrell Lancs,
Martha Aspinall - 41years,
John Lewis Aspinall - 5years (my great x2 grandfather
and George Henry Aspinall - 3years.
Martha and the children where born in Winsford Cheshire,
living in Over, Cheshire,

The Owens Family, 1871, census search

William Owens - 41years -Cow keeper born in Wales
Suzannah Owens -32years from wyresdale lancashire,
Jane Owens - 12 years (my great x2 grandmother) Thomas Owens - 10 years,
Humphrey Owens 7 years ,
John Owens3 years,
Living in 10 Ledward street, Toxteth Park,

I am not sure if William and Suzannah where married in 1861
or if Jane was their child together or if she came from a previous marrage/relaitionship.

To start with the Aspinalls, the 1861 census actually shows George to be 5 and John to be 3, not the way round you have them, and it says they were born in Over. Do you have a birth certificate for either of them, to tell you Martha's maiden name?

I found a likely marriage for William and Martha but you would want to confirm her maiden name from the birth certificate of one of their children:

William Aspinall married Martha Fitton Jul-Sep 1855 at St Wilfrid, Davenham, Cheshire. (Northwich district).

If you get their marriage certificate (after first getting John Lewis Aspinall's birth certificate) it will tell you their fathers' names and occupations, and that should help in tracing them back. If we could find a possible for William on the previous censuses, you might not be able to be sure it's the right person without getting the certificates to confirm everything.

The 1855 marriage Kite found is the right one; it's on the Cheshire PR site, and William's occupation is ship's carpenter, which fits with his occupation in the 1861 census.

Susannah Owens is head of house in 1871. William doesn't seem to be with them at that point. I've just checked his details on the 1881 census.

In 1861 Jane aged 3 and Thomas aged 8 monthe are with their father, William (cow keeper) and his wife, Eleanor.

There are two possible deaths for Eleanor in 1865 in West Derby District and one in Liverpool District:

Having just looked for a marriage to Eleanor, I have realised just how many William Owens there were in Liverpool/West Derby. There are several where their page number for the marriage has not been entred correctly, so it could take a while to find something. Plus Eleanor was from Wales so they may have been married away from Liverpool.

I've just checked there was a Susannah Simpson from Wyresdale born abt 1839 on the 1851 census, and there was !

You really need Jane's birth cert to confirm her mother's maiden name. There's more than one possible, but this one is the most likely, if that's correct that she was born in Toxteth Park:

At least you can ask them to check the mother's name was Eleanor before getting the cert if you order it from the local reg office.

You may be able to eliminate the middle one of these:

as there is this burial at Toxteth Park Cemetery:

OWENS Eleanor, 78 years, Widow, 9 Chapel Lane, bur 6 August 1865

I've not looked for William Owens on the earlier censuses as it would be safer to take this one step at a time - finding out Eleanor's surname and then their marriage and then having William's father's name, before looking at the Welsh censuses, large portions of which are missing.
