Ancestry has a likely entry for William and Mary Ann on the 1891 census at 14 Overton Rows, Dreghorn, with children Mary Jane 3 and Agnes 1:
Parish: Dreghorn; ED: 5; Page: 23; Line: 20

And in 1901 ancestry lists them at 36 Overton Rows, surname spelt McEwen, lots more children.
Parish: Dreghorn; ED: 5; Page: 6; Line: 3

I have to apoligise I have seen them and I had forgotten all about them noted them for her husband and forgot about Mary Ann.

I just realised don't know why I didn't this morning :(

Edit to say: The rest not knowns is correct though. Creeps off and ducks and covers. Oh hold on I didn't find the 1901 one I am confused actually it was the only 1871 and 1891 ones I had not the other one. Shall fill in the blanks now.

Just to clarify I hadn't seen this one at all.

Abigail!!! I'll have to look at the image on Scotland's People I think that's not a name that's cropped up before or since at all.

Having put this on here I now realise why I got so confused with this Wilson family before, there's so many families with the same names in a very small area around Dreghorn, Dalry, Cummnock and Riccarton

kiterunner 01-01-10 15:32

That often seems to be a problem with Scottish research, Maggie.

But its seems they didn't move around much. Overton Rows it was probably a row of miners cottages!

However, you have opened up a whole new avenue with that name Abigail I don't think its a common name in Scotland and probably might help track the family back a bit more.
