Hoppers

Baptisms at Buckland, Dover, Kent:
Robert Frederick Scriggins Hopper 3 Dec 1854, birth registered Jul-Sep 1854 Dover, mother Mary Ann Hopper, single woman
Walter John Hopper 6 Dec 1857, birth registered Jul-Sep 1857 Dover with extra middle name Galway, mother Mary Ann Hopper, single woman
Mary Ann Hopper 20 Apr 1864, not found birth reg, mother Mary Ann Hopper, single woman.

Walter John Hopper got married in Nebraska, USA, in 1879, giving his father's name as W John Hopper and leaving mother's maiden name blank. The 1900 US census says he arrived in the US in 1868.

Can anyone find the family on the 1861 English census or figure out what happened to Robert and the two Mary Anns, please?

This might be Mary Ann Hopper, though she has aged a bit since 1861:

Deaths Dec 1868

Garratt Mary Ann 38 Bedford 3b 193

So, could there be two Mary Ann Hoppers? It would seem unlikely this one would pop back to Kent to have another child after she had been married.

The married lady seems be the right one, given that she has Walter J with her.

Oh, well done Merry. It was that Mary Ann jr who confused me! Yes, I guess she must belong to a different Mary Ann.
