Goorid doesn't seem to be a real surname, so I would think it must be Goond. There are a few Goonds listed on each census, some in Empingham, Rutland on the 1861: John age 63 born Empingham with wife Mary 59 born Lincolnshire Stoke Rochford and brother Richard age 59 born Rutland Tickencote. I wonder whether they could be related to Hannah?

In 1851 John and Richard go by the surname Goude and both give Tickencote as their birthplace. In 1841 they are Goud, with an Elizabeth age 65 and Valentine Michael age 40.

Oh, and there's a Jane Goond who married William Plant in 1823 at Ketton. The Pallot's Marriage Index card says ?Gooud next to the name. Then John Gooud is listed in the National Probate Calendar for 1869, farmer of Empingham, but unfortunately there is nothing there to tie him up with your Brians! There are quite a few Goouds around so it might be worth you looking into the name.

Thanks Kate

I'll look into that.

I've always been stuck on Hannah, never got very far at all.

Kate

Can you change the title to read Hannah Goond / Goorid please?

kiterunner 14-02-11 16:52

Done. Though it might need changing to Gooud some time!
