Herbert Sharratt

Herbert Sharratt was my husbands 1st cousin twice removed, the nephew of his great grandmother.

Herbert was born on 19 December 1890 in Anslow, Staffordshire the son of Herbert Sharratt and Fanny Ann nee Preston.

He joined the 6th Battalion North Staffs Regiment Private 4469.

He was killed in action on 1st July 1916 in the first day of the Battle of the Somme.

He is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial, Pier Face 14b and 14c also the War Memorial in Anslow Churchyard.

I can't find any military records for him other than his Medal Card

Yes I saw that as I posted that. I've been busy all afternoon and haven't had time to investigate.

Mind you, nothing else referring to him comes up in military records.
