Born about 1862-3 Alverthorpe, Wakefield, West Yorkshire (also known as Alverthorpe and Thornes, or Alverthorpe with Thornes)

His parents were John Taylor and Jane; not sure whether we ever figured out Jane's maiden name. His stepfather was William Moxon. His father's name on his marriage cert is a combination of his father's name and his stepfather's name.

I don't think we found his birth reg or baptism yet. Will have a look but it may be difficult to find the right birth reg as there will be loads of that name.

These are the missing censuses, from the other thread.

Okay, looking at Lancashire BMD there are two possible birth regs for William's elder sister Martha in 1847 Colne sub-district, one with mother's maiden name Firth and one with mother's maiden name Whitham.

John Taylor married Jane Firth 30 Nov 1846 at St John the Baptist, Wakefield, Yorkshire. The image is on ancestry's West Yorkshire database:
http://interactive.ancestry.co.uk/22...nSearchResults

So it looks as though these are William's parents.

This could be his birth reg:

Births Jul-Sep 1862
TAYLOR William, Wakefield vol 9c page 46

But it's hard to be sure with such a common name.

I can't find a definite baptism for him but they moved around so much, he could have been baptised anywhere. It might be easier to look for one when we have his exact date of birth.
