Deceased Online - subs
Are they worth it?
Any pitfalls? Best mate has a family on the 1911 census with NINE child deaths to account for. We only knew about two. We used to think her father (born 1899) was the youngest but as his father (died 1909) was only 43 we could squeeze several in post the 1901 census. We have, of course, plenty of other entries I've been saving up! |
Brenda,
I have a sub had one for 12 months was well worth it when they put a lot of the London graves and cremations on but then it dried up for me so it expired and I left it for 6 months. Just signed up again will send PM. |
Thank you, Maggie!
Have pm'd you. |
Like Maggie, I subscribed a year or two ago but let it lapse. Recently I decided to buy another one and to my surprise discovered I still had some spare credits on there which they reactivated.
|
What do you see if you subscribe?
Are there images or transcriptions, both? |
Without registering you can see name/date/place.
Once you've paid you have access to: • Computerised cremation and burial records • Digital scans of cremation and burial registers • Photographs of graves and memorials (if they have them) • Cemetery maps showing grave locations • Other occupants in the same grave |

Perhaps they only have some? That came from their website.

No they have all that is available but it isn't included in the subscription and neither is the Headstone photographs. |

I think there might be a few more John Henry and William but different addresses check the list I sent. |
Thanks Lindsay, I might have to have a better look to see if my lot are catered for.
I really have too many undead in my tree. |
O wow!
Thank you so much! Will have a proper look when I have time. (ie when I'm not supposed to be working!!) It'll give best mate names for a lot of aunts and uncles. |
Have to say it's been a brilliant site for me but that's mainly down to the excellent coverage for Lincolnshire.

Deceased Online have just announced changes to their subscription system:
The existing annual sub costing £89 will now have a cap of 450 record views, and they are introducing two new levels of sub aimed at "heavier professional and corporate users of the site" - "Gold" costing £249 with a cap of 2000 record views, and "Platinum" costing £499 with a cap of 5000. |
So that is approx 50 look ups. Not sure it is worth the money.
|
Isn't it 450 lookups, Kit?
