How old do you have to be to register a death in Scotland?

I keep the random queries coming.

I have a death in Glasgow in 1960, registered by the deceased's daughter. The deceased was only 41 so I'm wondering how old the daughter would be.

I wondered if the fact that she registered her mother's death might give a clue, especially as I have been told that the daughter and her brother had to go to a children's home after their mother's death.

Thanks
