When their son James (born 1811) married in 1834 at Southwark, one of the witnesses was Arnold Hall.

I believe Arnold Hall was this chap:

How are James, Martha and Albert Hall connected to Jane Hall who married Joseph Newton?

Could Jane be James Hall's sister or cousin?
Albert Hall was contemporary with the two children of Joseph and Jane Newton - Hannah, born c. 1808 and James born c. 1811. Were they cousins?


I can't find a baptism for Jane Hall c. 1779. She died in 1865 at Upper Norwood and left a will.

Can I just confirm Albert is Arnold?

Where was Jane supposed to have been born?

Is she the one from Stalybridge, Lancashire or Ashton? (not close together!)

I think Jinney is often really Mary Jane, but thought it deserved a mention, but I may have been looking at the wrong person on the census!

Oh at the same church there's also a Jenny Hall in 1777, different parents (John and Nancy), but they were not living at Stalybridge - probably close by though.

That 1777 bap says Cooker Hill for abode, but it also says Ashton on the edge of the page, so that's a bit more confusion. I don't know where this Ashton would be?

It is the common scenario (in my tree) where counties converge.
Cheshire, Lancashire and Yorkshire in this case. It makes research very confusing.
