You've probably investigated this before, Merry, but on FreeReg there is a marriage between

Isaac Sage and Elizabeth Collyer
12 May 1799
St Michael Bath

It's also given as a submitted entry on the IGI.

I don't think FreeREG had been invented the last time I looked hard at George's parents, so thanks for that Elizabeth!! lol The problem is how to confirm anything? There are 1000s of Sages in Somerset

There is a burial for an

Isaac Sage
15 Mar 1814
aged 40
St Augustine of Hippo, Clutton

Before George's baptism.

George's baptism is on Free Reg. It says that Isaac is a Collier, which I wouldn't have expected if he had died!

There are two George Sages - one born c. 1815, one c. 1816, which could be very confusing!

As long as only one has father Isaac? (mine said his dad was Isaac, a postman, on his marriage cert, but as that was a modern day transcript by the local registrar, I've often wondered if that occ is right?)

Merry 23-04-10 14:40

Maybe he was a post man (to do with mining?) rather than a letter deliverer?
