Freereg has the following marriage

Issac Sage to Elizabeth Collyer
12/5/1799 St Michael, Bath
Witness Chas Russell & Thomas Watts

An Issac Sage was a witness to the marriage of William Collier & Betty Blacker 29/5/1809 Holy Trinity, Paulton.

An Isaac & Elizabeth Sage were witnesses to the marriage of Lawrence Price & Leah Naish 18/8/1816 St Augustine, Clutton.

Nehemiah Sage bapt 1/6/1800 Holy Trinity, High Littleton, parents Isaac & Elizabeth

Joannah Sage bapt 17/10/1802 Holy Trinity, High Littleton, parents Isaac & Elizabeth

All four parishes are only a few miles apart (google!) so abit more digging my prove they're all the same couple/people.

Thanks Jay. I have the Sage/Collyer marriage in my notes, but felt I needed to find Isaac's burial hopefully with an age recorded, to work out how likely that entry might be. Years ago I thought the name Isaac Sage would be fairly unusual, but was proved fairly wrong in Somerset!!

That Collier/Blacker marriage is particularly interesting. I'd not seen that before. Thanks again :)

Yeah I see there's alot more Sages than I thought they would be!

I've just spotted another Collier connection.

Isaac & Elizabeth Sage were witnesses to the marriage of William Tarbert & Sarah Collier 9/6/1799 St John The Baptist, Farrington Gurney.

JayG 27-05-11 23:31

There's baptisms at Farrington Gurney of Elizabeth 1773, Sarah, 1778 & William 1783 children of Jas/James & Johanna Collier.

It would seem I need to prod the records for this part of my tree a bit harder! I've never been able to get very interested in them for some reason - I think perhaps because in the past there was very little available online.

Isaac was supposed to have been a postman (son's 1840 marriage cert). Not entirely sure what that would mean..... Ag lab sounds far more likely!

Thanks for looking up those entries Jay. I am keeping notes!

I've just been going through the ToG thread for this Elizabeth's husband, Isaac Sage. In the other thread several additional children were found for Isaac and Elizabeth including one called Joanna Sage:

Joanna was b abt 1802 in High Littleton Somerset and married:

1) Isaiah Griffiths in 1820 (and if this isn't the marriage, she certainly married someone called Griffith(S)

2) William Roberts in 1840 at St. Michaels, Bristol (entry from FreeREG, father Isaac Sage)

I've just been looking for this Elizabeth again and have come across this 1841 census record for Cameley in Somerset:

Elizabeth Sage 70 Yes
William Sage 70 Yes
Catherine Griffiths 15 No

I'm thinking if Catherine is the daughter of Joanna then this Elizabeth is very likely to be the widow of Isaac Sage! Goodness knows who William is? I've not looked any further yet!

This may be the death reg for that Elizabeth:

That Elizabeth is close enough in age to be the one on the 1841 census. :)
