Rachel, I looked for a possible baptism for Mary Kerwin but I could only find one Kerwin baptism for the whole of Hampshire for the period 1752-1812.

When was the earliest child of Wiliam and Mary King born?

I'm not sure where the surname came from ~ possibly via a contact on GR but I've had difficulty accessing trees on there today so can't check

and I'm assuming that's them in 1841 with a 10 yr old George !

There are a few public trees on ancestry with William King and Mary Kerwin, but none of them has an exact date for their marriage nor details of Mary's parents.

BUT - FamilySearch has a marriage between William King and Mary Kerwin, 8 Nov 1796, Folkestone.

kiterunner 26-08-11 15:08

Ah, and it's also in the Kent extracted parish records on ancestry, and more usefully, it states on there that Mary was of the parish of Folkestone, age 17, father Thomas Kerwin.

Hmmmm
Folkestone is really out of the Malling area ... but so is Hampshire

Don't know what to think now and that LDS one is submitted .....

GR is still not co-operating

Baptisms of children of William and Mary King in Folkestone (from FamilySearch):
Thomas 27 Sep 1797, Mary Anna or Mary Anne 27 Dec 1799, Caroline 28 Dec 1801, Rebecca 20 Dec 1805, Susanna 12 Dec 1823, Rebecca same date as Susanna, Mary 9 Feb 1831. Of course the last 3 could be a different family.

kiterunner 26-08-11 15:23

Who are George and Louisa's parents, Rachel?

kiterunner 26-08-11 15:29

Hmmm, some of those public trees on ancestry have children of William and Mary born in East Malling in 1803 (William jr) and 1805 (John) which doesn't fit with that Rebecca being baptised in Folkestone in 1805 if it's the same family. I suspect that Mary Kerwin isn't your Mary at all.
