Thanks again Mary, just found two articles about Adam Dunt, one about him prospecting for "alluvial diggings" and the other an account of the inquest after his body was found on the seashore.

It's helped to know what happened to them after they went to Australia. Now why can't some of my Norfolk family who stayed here be as easy to find?!

It sounds from the article as though he struck gold.

Three Dunts from Geelong, including a son of Herbert's, served in WW1, and their complete service records are online:

Hi there Nell. A google search of my x3 great grandfather lead me here. My 3rd great grandfather being, Robert Ward Dunt...my 3rd great grandmother being, Emma Dunt nee Ward. R W Dunt and Emma had two daughters that married Sayers brothers. Emma Josephine Dunt married Alfred Fox Kay Sayers and Grace Victoria Dunt married Edward James Forbes Sayers(Grace & Edward being my 2nd grt grandparents). They were colonists of Geelong West and very well known and respected around the area,I believe. I am from and living in Australia. Currently working on my ancestry family tree. Just thought I'd touch base. kind regards.
Susan.
